A note from the President.

vbWelcome to the new home of the New Jersey Chapter of Printing House Craftsmen. As President for our 87th year, I am elated to see this website evolve into a valuable resource. A gateway to information about the chapter and the IAPHC - The Graphic Professionals Resource Network. Both members and visitors are encouraged to explore the site and should expect to find useful information as well as a means to connect with their colleagues. Connecting with our sponsors is important also. We truly appreciate their ongoing support which, includes active participation in our many educational and industry-related programs. Your patronage is the best way to thank them for their efforts. And speaking of programs, please visit often as we update our event calendar for educational and social events throughout the year. I’ll look forward to seeing you there.

Yours in Craftsmanship, Al Zowada

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Craftsmen Club?

This is a trade association, which is made up of men and women actively employed in the Graphic Arts. We are dedicated to providing high quality, industry-related programs on a regular basis. Our motto is, “Share Your Knowledge.”

What is the connection to the IAPHC-The Graphic Arts Professionals Resource Network?

We are a local chapter of the International organization that has member chapters throughout the US and Canada. Our affiliation allows each member to be a part of a larger, global community. Member benefits are derived exclusively from membership in the IAPHC.

How long has this chapter been around?

The New Jersey Chapter obtained its charter to the IAPHC in 1920. We were originally called the Newark Club of Printing House Craftsmen and were considered a “baby club”.

Is there anything that distinguishes the New Jersey from all the other chapters?

Yes. In 1928, this chapter initiated “International Printing Week” as a means to honor the printing industry and introduce students and educators to the many career opportunities therein. It has since, been celebrated around the world during the anniversary of the birth date of Benjamin Franklin, January 17th. The IAPHC endorsed it in 1944.

Why should I belong?

In today’s ever changing, technologically driven workplace, it is imperative to stay up with the advancements made throughout the industry. The easiest way to accomplish this is to belong to a trade association, such as this one. On a personal level, your active participation within the organization enables you to grow as an individual. Through your interaction, you gain many leadership skills and build rewarding business relationships on an international level.
