Marty Levinson and accepted by the board.
Membership Report: Mario Benvenuti
along with Committee Chair Len Vadala plan to contact
member prospects in advance of our upcoming January and March programs. The board approved a motion to extend the final deadline for dues payment to January 30,
2006.
Programs:
Thursday January 19th Print Week
Celebration – Featuring
Jim Kohler of International Paper, who will offer his inaugural presentation “Enlightening
the World – The History of Printing.” This event will be held at The
Academy for Visual Arts & Graphic Communications,
Thursday February 9th – Identity Theft, to be presented by a
representative of the US Secret Service.
Thursday March 9th – A panel discussion on the
topic “Printing on Synthetic & Polymer Substrates.”
To enhance publicity for our March program the board will consider creating a promotional bookmark as a compliment to its traditional “Focus” flyer. Tim Dalton, who serves as AGC Education Committee Chairman, will explore opportunities for future programs to be held in conjunction with AGC. Tim reported that AGFA has already expressed interest in lending their facilities for such a joint program. TBC Color Imaging has also agreed to open their digital print facility for a tour this spring.
Gallery: Congratulations to Sandy Alexander, on being awarded a 2005 “Best Of The Best” International Gallery of Superb Printing Award.
Old Business:
Paul
Lamendola will shortly be invoicing our website
sponsors. The board agreed that going
forward there should be one single level of sponsorship. The board will
continue to explore alternative means to enhance the exposure of our valued
sponsors, such as the creation of a poster to be displayed at our programs.
New Business:
International
Print Week Chair Al Zowada petitioned the board for
funds to support International Print Week’s 2006 Mid-Winter Event. The board approved a motion put forward by
Past-President Bill Van Jura, authorizing up to a
maximum of $500 to be allocated for this purpose, pending final approval of the
budget committee.
Past-President Bill Van Jura
withdrew his November motion to suspend Chapter operations due to the
undisputable crisis we face with leadership succession. Bill proposed a model for reorganization that
would effectively trim the large number of programs, committee and board
meetings. Bill’s outline shifts greater
focus to leveraging our organization’s educational benefits, which have not
been adequately promoted to membership.
Past-President Al Zowada
reminded the board that any major restructuring requires that our bylaws be amended. Tim Dalton moved that we assemble a committee
to do just this. Bill Van Jura has agreed to chair this committee whose task will be
to realign both the leadership structure and the functions of our
organization. This committee is expected
to arrive at a final action plan by the end of May 2006.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20PM
