President’s
Report: President Shine thanked Jim Kohler of International
Paper for his successful Print Week program. He also reflected upon the large turnout at
the annual NY Printing Week Celebration. President
Shine engaged the board in a lengthy discussion of ways to inject more “fun”
into our monthly programs. The board’s
consensus is that social and/or networking events (such as our upcoming June
event at the NJ Jackals baseball game) should, and must become a greater part
of the mix going forward. President
Shine is eager to seek out innovative approaches that will stimulate the interest
of both existing and prospective new members.
Budget
Report: President Shine reported that
the budget is undergoing some final adjustments and is near completion.
Sergeant-At-Arms
Report: There were 44 attendees at the January meeting.
Scholarship
Report: Committee Chair, Ira Shore has e-mailed George
O'lear and Bill Pavlu for an updated list of scholarship recipients whose
application for continued funding needs to be reevaluated.
Membership
Report: Several guests at the January
meeting expressed interest in becoming members. Tim Dalton offered his assistance with follow
up calls to these prospective new members.
Jack Blewitt reported his success in reaching out to members in arrears,
securing some 15-20 members to renew.
Publicity: Ira Shore will be advised of upcoming programs well
enough in advance so that The Printing News Calendar Ads can be published
