New Jersey Chapter of Printing House Craftsmen

Minutes – Executive Committee

Date:  September 28, 2006

Attending:  Andy Shine, Steve Gleich, Tim Dalton, Harvey Hirsch, Paul Lamendola, Jack Blewitt, Sheila Blewitt, Mario Benevenuti, Bill Van Jura.

President Tim Dalton called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.

President’s Report:  President Dalton shared his excitement on the number of reservations already received for our October program.  He reported on his speaking with numerous other Craftsmen chapters that had been uncertain about their continued affiliation with IAPHC.  President Dalton noted that many of these chapters have elected to maintain their IAPHC associations despite recent dues increases.  In addition to the many benefits IAPHC membership affords, our new AGC association will also entitle members to many attractive benefits.  A package outlining these benefits will soon be available.

Treasurer’s Report:  A report was submitted by Marty Levinson and accepted by the board.

Membership Report:  Jack and Sheila Blewitt presented a listing of member profiles.  This detailed information will be extremely helpful as we seek to improve our current database.

Education/Scholarship Report:  President Dalton reported that our AGC education benefits are now in effect, and they will be communicated to our membership via some combination of email and/or mailing.  Bill Van Jura suggested we explore whether to earmark scholarship funds for Kean University students, given their renewed interest in our programs.  Past-President Andy Shine noted that he had emailed Bruce Myers and Greg D’Amico for their input in this area.  The Education Fund Advisory Committee will be creating a new document that will outline the criteria and procedures for scholarship funds to be awarded.

Website/Bulletin:  President Dalton says we can look forward to some changes on our website in the coming months.  He also expressed the need for a volunteer to assume responsibility for website content.

Programs:  The following is a tentative schedule of programs for the upcoming year:

Publicity:   Harvey Hirsch presented the board with a flyer to promote our NJ Craftsmen Logo Contest, which will have a Grand Prize of $1000.00 to the winner (budgeted from education fund).  The board approved several motions that were put forth related to this contest:

·         There will be a fee of $10.00 per entry.  The total amount collected in entry fees will be deposited into the education fund.

·         Entries may be submitted from the entire State of NJ, there will be no regional restrictions.

·         There will be a limitation of 3 entries per entrant.

Old Business:  President Dalton announced that going forward all board meeting are to be held on the fourth Thursday of each month.  This change allows board members to schedule well in advance, and hopefully will encourage more of our general membership to attend meetings, as this schedule will be posted for everyone.

New Business:  The board had previously decided it would accept no more than a $10.00 per member increase in IAPHC annual dues.  President Dalton was pleased to report that IAPHC has agreed to adjust the amount of our NJ Chapter dues increase to meet with our satisfaction.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM
