A note from the President.
Welcome to the new home of the New Jersey Chapter of Printing House Craftsmen. As President for our 87th year, I am elated to see this website evolve into a valuable resource. A gateway to information about the chapter and the IAPHC - The Graphic Professionals Resource Network. Both members and visitors are encouraged to explore the site and should expect to find useful information as well as a means to connect with their colleagues. Connecting with our sponsors is important also. We truly appreciate their ongoing support which, includes active participation in our many educational and industry-related programs. Your patronage is the best way to thank them for their efforts. And speaking of programs, please visit often as we update our event calendar for educational and social events throughout the year. President's Message
“The importance of Membership”
The other day, I was asked why I belong to several industry associations. Don’t they all serve the same purpose? Aren’t the topics they cover redundant? The answer is yes to all. The most important question being asked throughout the industry is, “ are they all relevant?” This is a tougher question to answer because each organization strives to answer the needs of a specific segment of the graphic arts industries. The relevance issue comes into play more with associations like this that attracts a broader audience. However, we too, have a specific target audience. It’s the employee, manager, CEO, COO or owner that’s looking for answers to everyday questions.
Our target audience is you, the individual who makes the conscious decision to stay up-to-date with technology and methodologies of today’s best practices of business. You choose to attend our programs because you know that the NJ Chapter of Printing House Craftsmen will bring you face to face with industry leaders, who, will be requested to share their knowledge for the price of a meal. You choose to become a member because you are one of the few who recognize the importance of supporting the industry you work in through your membership.
But, your decision to belong to an association has deeper roots than you might think. Has it ever dawned on you that perhaps, underlying all that I’ve mentioned, you realize that you require contact within a social network that goes beyond your personal life. In fact, we have many members that have retired from the industry, but, feel the strong desire to remain a part of this interaction amongst their former colleagues, friends and human beings.
So, again I ask, what is the importance of membership? It’s all of the above and more. You should take advantage of every opportunity to learn something either personally or professionally. Obviously, I hope that when you take inventory of your choices in life, you will include membership in this association as one of them. And remember, what has made this chapter as strong as it is for over 88 years has always been the ability to fulfill the needs of our members through our enduring motto of sharing our knowledge. We would like to continue to serve this industry for as long as you need information which engages, enlightens, and even surprises you.
Your membership is important to us. It should be more important to you.
